Copeland FitzPatrick History
Brian FitzPatrick, the Principal, joined the firm in January 1965,
becoming a Partner in 1967.
Allan Copeland set up the practice on 1st April 1945 at 282 Great
South Road, Otahuhu. In January 1954 he was appointed Coroner
at Otahuhu and in 1967 he accepted an appointment as full-time Coroner
for the Auckland Area.
Patrick Browne joined him in 1957 and became a partner in 1958.
In January 1974 he was appointed to the (now) District Court Bench.
In 1965 the practice moved to 245 Great South Road and in January
1972 to its present address - 7 Princes Street, Otahuhu.
Following the appointment of Mr. Browne to the Bench the firm merged
with a firm in Papatoetoe for seven years - re-establishing itself
as a separate entity in June 1980.
John Cowern joined the firm in 1976 - becoming a Partner in 1981.
In 1987 he left the firm to work overseas.
